The Gingerbread House is Accra’s premier Montessori Nursery school, purpose-built and accredited by The Montessori Centre International (MCI) in 2002.
We opened our doors for the first time in August 1998 and Martina and her team have been providing a first class Montessori experience ever since.

About 100 years ago, Dr Maria Montessori created the method of education used in Montessori schools all over the world. It is a method which is based on the idea that young children have an innate desire and ability to acquire both intellectual knowledge and practical experience.

It is this spontaneity that we encourage and enhance here at The Gingerbread House. Our main aim is to cultivate and nourish a child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn and to give the child a holistic education. We do not force our children to learn arbitrary facts from pre-selected materials; instead we encourage them to learn through their own motivation and interactions with each other. We cater for a maximum of 40 children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years split into two groups -Montessori room = 24 and Toddler group = 16.
